Despacito is a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed within less than six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music not only brought interest back to the genre, but it also brought attention to Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in 2015. During the height of Despacito's popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 songs. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna teamed up with Maluma to record Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers in 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. The musician incorporated electronic dance music as well as other styles into his music.
